On a pitch page, you must refrain from using anything that may distract the visitor from making a purchase. The biggest distraction I find most vendor sites guilty of committing is when they try to capture your email Attorney mailing list address. It seems that all of the “Gurus” out there are preaching that it’s all about building your email list. While I believe this philosophy should be used if you run a blog or some type of free website
I discourage that you attempt to harvest email addresses if you are selling something on your website. In fact the number one reason I will personally leave a page is when I’m asked for my email address to access the rest of the site or to gain access to some free report. It’s a big turn off, don’t you agree? The only time a vendor should be harvesting email addresses is during the actual order process when the customer is signing up to purchase the product.
This may be the most controversial thing you will hear but I swear by it… Do not have any forms that ask for email address or any other information on your page. Focus on selling them the product right then and there and not sending them off your page. If you don’t believe me look at – the top vendor site that has made tens of millions of dollars! If visitors do leave your page, do not try and bait them back with a bombardment of pop ups.
That will scare them away for good. Remember keep it simple and easy for them to purchase your product. That should be their only option when visiting your site.
Don’t worry about building an email list. Many of your affiliates already have email lists Buy Leads because that is their job – to promote your website. Your job is to provide a product that sells.
